Telecoms 2020 – Same Hopes, More Fears.

In 2019, 451 Research and Vertiv collaborated on the paper ‘Telco Industry Hopes and Fears: From Energy Costs to Edge Computing Transformation.’ The project was designed to generate fresh insights from leading telecom network and IT decision-makers ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2019. MWC 2019 represented a seminal moment in history as 5G had finally gone live in a handful of places after several years of building anticipation.

As we began 2020, we wanted to look back at those insights and evaluate how they are holding up after a flurry of global 5G and edge deployments. What did we discover? Many of the same hopes and fears will live on in 2020 and beyond.
