The Energy Star certified Vertiv Liebert PSI5 Lithium-Ion TAA UPS system provides reliable backup power, streamlines procurement for U.S. federal government applications
Columbus, Ohio [March 14, 2023] – Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, today introduced the Vertiv™ Liebert® PSI5 Lithium-Ion TAA uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system, the industry’s first and only single-phase lithium-ion UPS system that is fully compliant with the Trade Agreements Act (TAA). U.S. federal government customers who use lithium-ion UPS systems can purchase the system in 1500VA, 1920VA and 3000VA capacities from any qualified Vertiv channel partner in the United States.
TAA compliant equipment is required to be manufactured or substantially transformed in the U.S. or a TAA designated country, making it acceptable for installation in U.S. federal government facilities as part of a GSA Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contract where TAA compliant products are required under the contract.
The Liebert® PSI5 Lithium-Ion TAA is a line-interactive UPS system designed specifically for the edge of the network and distributed IT environments. It delivers up to 20 minutes of battery runtime at half load and 9 minutes at full load – roughly double that of similar capacity UPS systems using traditional valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries. Lithium-ion batteries have greater power density and recharge faster than VRLA batteries, can endure up to 10 times the number of discharge cycles, and last up to 3 times longer than VRLA batteries. The Liebert PSI5 Lithium-Ion TAA comes with a five-year limited warranty with advanced replacement terms, contributing to a total cost of ownership (TCO) that is up to 50% less than VRLA alternatives.
“Lithium-ion batteries have become an important option in data centers of all types and sizes, particularly in the small spaces typical of the edge and U.S. government facilities,” said Tony Evans, vice president, federal strategy and sales, for Vertiv. “The Liebert PSI5 Lithium-Ion TAA provides reliable, sophisticated, long-lasting backup power across their distributed networks, providing an advanced technology that had been lacking for federal agencies and their IT infrastructure.”
The Vertiv™ Liebert® PSI5 Lithium-Ion TAA is Energy Star certified and offers the benefits and functionality of the standard Liebert PSI5, including remote management capabilities and free power management software via optional networking cards.
The Liebert PSI5 Lithium-Ion TAA UPS system is the latest addition to Vertiv’s broad portfolio of TAA-compliant IT infrastructure solutions. Vertiv offers TAA-compliant products across multiple categories, including UPS systems, racks and integrated solutions, rack power distribution, IT management solutions, and thermal management. Other recent additions to the TAA portfolio include the Vertiv™ Liebert® GXT5 double conversion online UPS, and Vertiv® Avocent® ADX Management Platform, including IP and HD KVM devices and a rack manager appliance.
