Hibernia Networks selected Vertiv as its partner to design and build two fully integrated cable landing stations on each side of the Atlantic Ocean based on our experience, expertise, and deployment speed.
SmartMod Cable Landing Station
The Customer
Hibernia Networks was a privately held, US-owned provider of telecommunication services. It was acquired by GTT Communications in January 2017.
The Challenge
The Hibernia Express is a 4,600 km, 6-pair transatlantic cable system that connects North America and Europe through landing ports in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Brean, England and Cork, Ireland. The customer needed a partner with a good understanding of harsh oceanfront environments and proven ability to deliver efficient, reliable cooling systems under such conditions to build their cable landing stations to connect the Hibernia Express.
The Solution
Hibernia Networks selected Vertiv to design and build several prefabricated modules that can be assembled onsite to meet local requirements in Canada and United Kingdom – the two global landing spots for Hibernia Express.
The cable landing stations were complete in only seven months from the onset of work, enabling Hibernia Express to deliver the absolute lowest latency and additional high-performing capacity to its customers on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
Case Summary
Capacity: 10.16 Tbits/s; <60ms latency
