NTT Leverages Vertiv™ AC and DC Power Systems to Achieve NTT OneVision Center

May 11, 2022

Vertiv™ Liebert® EXM UPS and NetSure™ outdoor DC power enclosure enable sustainable operation of the NTT OneVision Center

Columbus, Ohio [May 11, 2022] – Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, today shared details of the Vertiv™ equipment and services supporting sustainable operation of the NTT OneVision Center, a state-of-the-art hybrid-remote smart workspace for NTT Research, and other NTT Group companies, in Sunnyvale, Calif.

A Vertiv™ Liebert® EXM 100 kVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system with lithium-ion batteries provides backup power to the building’s IT equipment and other critical systems, and a Vertiv™ NetSure™ outdoor DC power enclosure with inverters, rectifiers and maximum power point tracking (MPPT) solar converters supports solar power implementation.

A concept led by NTT Global Sourcing, the NTT OneVision Center is one of the first office buildings in Silicon Valley built specifically with the post-pandemic workplace in mind, prioritizing health and wellness, remote and on-site collaboration, energy efficiency and net-zero carbon emissions. The building is on track to become carbon neutral, thanks to on-site solar energy generation. Vertiv’s technologies and services contribute to the sustainability of the building, through the efficiency of the Liebert EXM UPS, charging and discharging properties of lithium-ion batteries, and by facilitating the use of solar power throughout the building with the NetSure outdoor DC power enclosure and inverters. Vertiv™ Services, including scheduled maintenance, will support the operation and availability of the systems.

“Everything about the NTT OneVision Center is about the future of work, and Vertiv helps make it all possible with intelligent, efficient solutions that empower our teams to collaborate and explore their creativity in ways that meet this moment,” said NTT Research president and CEO Kazuhiro Gomi. “We have confidence in Vertiv and their solutions supporting our power infrastructure. We are proud to be leaders in moving toward a smarter, healthier workplace, and we are thrilled to partner with Vertiv to make it happen.”

“As NTT Services developed this workspace concept, Vertiv’s comprehensive AC and DC infrastructure support portfolio and their reputation for excellence made them the clear choice to support NTT critical systems and Net Zero energy goals,” said Arvind Kumar, vice president at NTT Global Sourcing.

“The vision for the NTT OneVision Center aligns with everything Vertiv is about,” said Peter Panfil, vice president, global power at Vertiv. “Sustainability, intelligence, and enhanced communication and collaboration are expectations in the work we do and in the solutions we deliver for our customers. The NTT Research vision to deliver cutting-edge technologies to enable a smarter, more sustainable and healthier workplace aligns perfectly with Vertiv’s goals.”

The Vertiv™ Liebert® EXM 100 kVA is a transformer-free, double-conversion UPS system with a small footprint, modular design and a unity power factor that delivers excellent power per square foot. It is up to 97% efficient in standard operating mode and up to 99% efficient in Eco Mode. The Vertiv™ NetSure™ DC power system works with the inverter to efficiently convert DC power from the building’s solar panels for distribution throughout the building, including to the AC-powered IT systems.

NTT Research officially unveiled the NTT OneVision Center in late September 2021. The building is open, but currently accessible only to a limited number of employees.
